Nellie Sink Phillips, age 96 of Lexington passed away Saturday morning August 21 st , 2021 at her home surrounded by family

A graveside service will be held at 3PM on Sunday, August 29 th , 2021 at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Peeler officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Davidson County, NC on September 4 th , 1924 to Clem W. and Edna Myers Sink. She was a graduate of Reeds High School Class of 1942. After years of service in the manufacturing industry she retired from Lexington Memorial Hospital in 1992. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher for the Ladies Bible Class. A loving mother, grandmother, confidant and friend, she loved woodworking, quilting, gardening, painting and baking. She was known for her lemon pound cakes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arvil L. Phillips; son Edward “Eddie” Phillips;  great-grandson Randy Joe Berrier III; sisters Blanche Lanning, Mildred Lanning and Joan Phillips; brothers Alvin, Henry, Lacy, Earl, Claude and infant Luther Sink.

Left to cherish her memory are sons Robert Phillips(Olene) of Wilkesboro, and Arvil “Keith” Phillips(Fredia) of Lexington; daughter Susan Dawn Phillips(Butch Robinson) and daughter-in-law Sondra Phillips, all of Lexington;  grandchildren Charles Phillips, Eddie Phillips Jr.(Lori), Mitzi Phillips(Bo), Michael Phillips(Ashley), Matthew Phillips(Jo), Randy Joe Berrier Jr.(Jennifer), Christin Berrier Neaves(Brian) and Jordan Robinson; eleven great-grandchildren with another expected in October and one great-great grandchild; sister Mary Alice Berrier of Lexington; along with several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to April Roberts and Suzanne Fain with Amedisys Hospice for the care provided during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Amedisys Hospice or to the Cares Team Ministry at Friendship United Methodist Church.
