Nettie Smith Maley

Nettie Smith Maley, age 89 of Woodsway Drive, Lexington passed away Sunday morning, September 2, 2012 at Carolina House after a serious illness of 5 months Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Morris Hollifield officiating. The family will meet with friends following the service. Nettie was born in Davidson County, June 26, 1923 to William Henderson Smith and Lillian Idell Smith Smith. She was a Baptist. She graduated from Tyro School in 1941 and retired from North Carolina Finishing after over 48 years of service; later working with Eparle’s Dress Shop in Lexington and B`jous Dress Shop in Salisbury. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years Roby J. Maley; sisters, Kathleen Smith, Sudie Long, Mabel Ferree, Willie Crowell, Blanche Logue, Undine Swicegood, and Beulah Swing and a brother, Edward L. “Roy” Smith. Surviving are; one sister, Lois Willard of Salisbury, brother in law, Robbie Swing of Lexington, numerous nieces and two nephews including Bobby Swing and wife Evelyn who were her caregivers.
