Nettie Mae Foard Shaw

Nettie Mae Edwards Shaw, 86, of Raeford Avenue, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011, at Forsyth Medical Center. Burial will be 2:00pm Thursday at Lexington City Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Mrs. Shaw was born November 19, 1924, in Danville, Va., to Brooke Edwards and Letha Bell Edwards. She was a supervisor in the Trucking Department at Lexington Home Brands Plant 1. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene Foard in 1979, Garland Shaw Sr. in 1988; and a son, Sawney Eugene Foard I. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia A. Foard; a grandson, Sawney Eugene Foard II and his wife, Kristina Foard, of Lexington; three granddaughters, Sherrill McPeak, Kathy Grossette and husband, Mark, and Ashley Valdez, all of Albuquerque, NM; and 14 great-grandchildren.
