Nicholas Vincent Melomo

Nicholas Vincent Melomo, 18 years old and from Raleigh, NC, passed away in his home embraced by the love of his family on Sunday, October 29, 2023.  Nicholas has been living boldly and bravely with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer, for nearly four years.

Nicholas was born in Raleigh on January 7, 2005 and is survived by his parents Vincent and Lee Melomo and younger brother Henry and his beloved cat, Sunny and playful conure, Clover.  He also leaves behind his grandparents Max and Peggy Walser of Lexington, NC and grandmother Irene Melomo of Oak Island, NC.  He is also survived by his Aunt Joy and Uncle Wes Walser and cousins Will and Sam Walser of Lexington, NC.  In Knoxville, Tennessee he is survived by his Aunt Rosemarie and Uncle Joel Curnell and cousins Christopher, Zoe and Evie Curnell.

Nicholas attended Combs Elementary, Moore Square Middle School and was currently a student at Enloe High School.  Nicholas had many diverse interests that he pursued at school and beyond.  He loved graphic art, photography, astronomy, fancy sports cars and flying.  Between chemo treatments, leg amputation, numerous surgeries and trials at John Hopkins and Cleveland Clinic, playing video games and watching movies with his friends and family also brought him much pleasure.

Two memorial events will be held for Nicholas.  The first will be Saturday, November 11, from 1:30-4:30 at his home in Raleigh.  This event is for close family and friends and local supporters.  Tributes will be made at 3:00 pm.  The second event will be held Saturday, November 18 at 2:00 pm at Grace Episcopal Church in Lexington, NC.
