Nina Stokes Bass

August 27, 1920 — November 11, 2013

Nina Belle Stokes Bass, 93, of Alston Brook Nursing Home formerly of West Ave., Lexington died Monday at the Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Elder Delmer Greene and Rev. Clyde Akers officiating. Entombment will follow. The family will receive friends from 10:30 till 11:00 am just prior to the service and other times at the home of the granddaughter, on Ira Dr. Mrs. Bass was born August 27, 1920 in Edgecomb Couty, NC to Guy Hamilton Stokes and Martha Ann McLawhorn Stokes. She was retired from Wennoah Cotton Mills and was a member of Church of Jesus Christ. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Lester Lee Bass, Sr., a daughter, Gloria Nadine Turowski, six brothers, Woodrow Stokes, Floyd Alston Stokes, Grover Stanly Stokes, Alva Meakin Stokes, Henry Melton Stokes, Thadeus Stokes, two sisters, Martha Juanita Beck and Mary O’Niell Tripp. Surviving are a son, Lester Lee Bass, Jr. of Lexington; a daughter, Cheryl Bass Shoaf (Tony) of Lexington; seven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to Carolina Cancer Services 25 West 6th Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Alston Brook for all the love and care shown to Nina and her family.
