Nina Peterson, 81, of Lexington passed away at her home October 2, 2024. A funeral service will be held at the Lexington Church of God on Sunday at 3:00pm with the Pastor Rodney Merrell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00pm-3:00pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Lexington Church of God. Nina was born on June 11, 1942, in Mobile Alabama to the late Jesse and Nellie Hardy Taylor. Soon after her birth, her family moved to Pensacola, Florida where her father was stationed in the United States Navy. When Nina was five years old, she met the man that she knew would one day be her husband. Nina and Robert Earl Peterson were married years later. Along with being a mother and raising and taking care of her family, Nina worked for many of her years as an office administrator. After her husbands death in 2007, she left Pensacola and came to lived with her daughter here in Lexington. Left to cherish the memory and legacy of Nina are her daughter, Tammy York, of Lexington and her son Coy and wife Denice Carrick; three grandchildren; John-Paul Allan York and fiancé Valerie York of Anderson S.C., Jessie Taylor Michael and husband Jacob and Emily Lauren York and significant friend, Tater Surratt, all of Lexington; eight great-grandchildren; Jeremiah Andrew York and significant friend, Samantha Ammons of Midway, Benjamin Alan York, Eliyanna Mary-Grace York of Anderson S.C., Jordyn Kate Michael James Howard Michael, Jacob Allan Lyn Michael, Julien Bryant Michael and Carmella Surratt, and one great, great grandchild; Lilyanna Taylor York, all of Lexington.
