Noah Luther Welch

Noah Luther Welch, 85 of Thomas Rd., passed away Tuesday evening November 4 at Forsyth Medical Center. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 7, 2008 at Hebron United Church of Christ where he was a member with Pastor David Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Welch was born in Davidson County on July 28, 1923 to Hobart Andrew Welch and Amanda Sue Nifong Welch. He was a retired truck driver with Roadway Express, a farmer, and also a member of Teamsters 391. Noah was a Veteran of the US Army and served his country during WWII in the European Theater. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Charlene Isabel Perrell Welch who passed away on August 8, 2006, and a son-in-law Max Cole, and one brother and sister. Mr. Welch is survived by three sons; Sam Welch and wife Pat of Arcadia, Mike Welch and wife Kathy of King and Andy Welch of the home; three daughters; Kay Cole of Wallburg, Pam Starbuck and husband Joe of Advance and Cara Welch of Pinebuff, NC; six grandchildren; Stacy Payne and wife Wendy of Midway, Jamie Welch and wife Jaimee of Hallsboro, NC, Justin Starbuck and wife Crystal of Charlotte, Melissa Leonard and husband Johnny of Lexington, Amy Howard and husband Andrew of Mt. Airy and Candace Spillman of Winston-Salem; three great- grandchildren; Marley and Josie Welch of Hallsboro and Tyler Payne of Midway; four brothers and two sisters. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 PM Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hebron United Church of Christ, 129 Hebron Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
