Nolan Stanford Austin

Nolan Stanford Austin, 70, of Green Meadows Drive, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at his home. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cotton Grove United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Edgar L. Armfield Jr. Mr. Austin was born September 9, 1937, in Guilford County to Jessie Stanford Austin and Lillie Rhodes Austin. He served in the North Carolina Army National Guard, was a police officer for the High Point police department, worked as a contractor, and was a member of Hickory Chapel Church in High Point. He was a very loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family which he loved very much. He also performed gospel music for several years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Austin; and two brothers, Colin Austin and Olin Austin. Surviving are his wife, Rosie Cashatt Austin of the home; two sons, Darrell Austin and wife, Terry, of Thomasville, and Dale Austin and wife, Gloria, of Climax; three daughters, Vickie Boozer and husband, Steve, of Sophia, Sandra Greene and husband, James, of Lexington, and Abby Morris and husband, Keith, of Tallahassee, Fla.; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Sandra J. Austin of Trinity. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293; or Cotton Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 175 Jersey Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
