Nomie Elizabeth Essick age 96 of Old Hwy 52 North, Welcome passed away Thursday morning in Forsyth Medical Center. Nomie was born May 31, 1913 in Davidson County to John Lorenza Essick, and Mittie Perryman Essick. She was a homemaker and loving mother. Nomie was a member of Center United Methodist Church, the Open Door Sunday School Class at Center and was a life member of the United Methodist Women of Center Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ulas Shaw Essick in 1993 and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be 2PM Sunday July 12 at Center United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Stephen Pillsbury and burial will follow in Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by 2 daughters Libby Essick Michael and husband Wayne, and Jane Essick King and husband Tom both of Welcome; 5 grandchildren , Duff Michael and wife Anna, Tony Michael and wife Rhonda, Chris Michael and wife Stacie, Jody Michael and wife Jennifer all of Welcome and Sandy Harris and husband Randy of Jamestown; 12 Great-grandchildren, Riley Michael, Alden Michael, Griffin Michael, Sydnie Michael, Kacie Michael, Landon Michael, Keeli Michael, Levi Michael, Kade Michael, Kara Michael, Payton Harris, and Hence Essick and wife Candace; and 1 great-great grandchild Dylan Essick.
The visitation will be 6-8 Saturday July 11, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times the family will be at her residence.
