Nora Welch Smith

Nora Welch Smith, age 86 of Old Highway 64 West, Lexington passed away Sunday (Nov. 8, 2009) at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday (Nov. 11, 2009) at Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. James Messer and Rev. Jeff Walser officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Nora was born in Union County, SC January 1, 1923 to Frank Wright and Queenie Steele Wright. She was a former employee of the textile industry. A member of Pilgrim Freewill Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Joe Welch and Charlie Smith. Surviving are; nine daughters, Angel Stephens of Chicago, IL, Dorothy Worley of IL, Faye Louise Worley of SC, Idell Worley of Pinehurst, Margie Worley of Winston Salem, Jeanetta W. Scrounce of Lexington, Mary Coffey of Clemmons, Brenda Smith and Margaret Lawson both of Lexington; ten sons, Odell Worley and Perry Lee Worley both of St. Louis, MO, Carlvern D. Worley of NC, Eugene R. Worley of TN, Fred Smith, Charles Smith, David Smith, Rocky Smith, Dewey Smith and Robert Smith all of Lexington; 28 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday night at Davidson funeral Home and at other times at the home of son, Robert Smith 2785 Old Hwy. 64 west, Lexington.
