Norene Everhart Surratt

Mrs. Norene Everhart Surratt, 85, of Lexington died Sunday, April 9 at Brookstone Retirement Center.   A funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, April 12 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Denton by the Rev. Richard Gould. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.   Mrs. Surratt was born September 6, 1931 in Davidson County to John Glenn Everhart and Nellie Whitlock Everhart.  She retired from Lexington City Schools and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.  Her husband, Daniel Lawrence “Duck” Surratt, her grandson, Darin Surratt, and her brothers, Jimmy Everhart, Bobby Everhart, and Stephen Everhart, preceded her in death.   She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Surratt and husband, Daniel, of Denton, her brothers, Glenn Everhart and wife, Vae, and Ted Everhart and wife, Bettie, both of Lexington; her sister, Sarah Stogner and husband, Paul of Lexington; her granddaughter,  Angela Surratt Palmer and husband, Ben, of Lexington; her great granddaughter, Ellie Palmer, and numerous nieces and nephews.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Carol Glover, PO Box 1273, Lexington NC 27293 or to the donor’s favorite charity.
