Norma Jordan Greene, 72, of Bridge Street, Lexington, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Palliative Care. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday (November 2, 2011) in the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with Mr. George Hurd officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday and at other times at the home of Larry and Carolyn Walser, 5881 W. Old Highway 64, Lexington.
Norma was born in Davidson County, July 17, 1939 to Charlie Walter Jordan and Zannie Mae Nichols Jordan. She worked at Burlington Mills; a homemaker and provided child care in her home for many years, where she cared for most of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Most recently, when she needed them, they cared for her. They were all a very special part of her life and she loved each and every one of them dearly. She was a member The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Norma married the love of her life in 1959 and they were together until his untimely death in 1993. She was extremely close to her family and unselfishly took care of them until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Norma was very proud of her two children and loved them unconditionally and they in turn loved her beyond words. She will be missed tremendously by all, who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Bryan Greene, Sr.; sisters, Allene Haralson, Maxine Carter, Betty Jean Parker, Peggy Shaw and brothers, Charles Vernon Jordan and Kent Jordan and most recently brother-in-law Harold S. Carter.
Surviving are; her daughter, Zandy Greene of Lexington; her son, Bryan Greene of Asheville; sister, Clatie Berrier and husband, Don, of Lexington; sister-in-laws Joann Jordan; Mary Ann Gaster, Janice Russell and husband, Johnny; and very special nieces, nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
