Norma Lanning

Norma Virginia West Lanning, 82, Sunbridge Nursing Center, formerly of Shoaf Road, died Wednesday, August 08, 2007, at Hospice Home of High Point. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel by Preacher Clyde Akers. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mrs. Lanning was born March 6, 1925, in Wilkes County, N.C., to Frank West and Bertie Hutchins Gallaher. She was married to Frank Lee Lanning, who preceded her in death. Her son, David McIntyre; and a daughter, Cathy Lanning, also preceded her in death. Surviving are son; Jeff Lanning and wife Janie of Churchland, daughters; Nancy Bruff and husband Kim of Lexington, Betty Hutchins and husband Larry of Reeds, Ellen Norman and husband Albert of Churchland, and Linda Keys and husband George, of Linwood, 15 grandchildren, including Phillip Lanning in which she raised; numerous great-grandchildren; and sisters, Audrey Daniels and husband Ted, and Carolyn Gallaher and husband Richard all of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of the daughter, Ellen Norman, 4686 Horseshoe Neck Road. Memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 214 Hillcrest Court, Lexington, NC 27295.
