Hazel Norma Potts Palmer, 82, of Brookdale of Lexington, formerly of Welcome, died Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Lexington Health Care.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Welcome, where she was a member, with the Rev. Mark Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and other times at their respective homes.
Mrs. Palmer was born October 11, 1932, in Davidson County, to Thurman Baxter Potts and Virginia Windsor Potts. She was a clerical assistant at North Davidson Middle School from 1967 to 1971 and a teacher assistant for the first grade classes at Welcome Elementary School from 1974 until her retirement in 1999. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lynn “Don” Palmer Sr.; daughter, Susan Palmer Keith; and brother, Arnold Potts.
Surviving are sons, Danny Palmer and wife Ava of Lexington, Donald Palmer Jr. and wife Christy of Winston-Salem; daughter, Barbara Palmer Brock and husband Dennis of Midway; son-in-law, Michael Keith of Maryland; grandchildren, Allyson Hege Boyette and husband Kent, Mitchell Keith, Marissa Keith, Zachary Palmer, Madison Palmer, Jackson Palmer, and Logan Palmer; great-grandchild, Susan M’Lynn Boyette; step-grandchildren, Sumer Thrift and husband Steve, Jessica Murphy and husband Travis, Sam Keith, Alex Keith and wife Randi; Step-great-grandchildren, Austin Jeffries, Easton Keith, Quaid Keith, Riley Murphy, and Karley Murphy. Also surviving locally are sister-in-law, Wilma Potts; nephew, Eddie Potts; niece Rhonda Frank; and great-nephew, Dalton Frank.
