Norman Briggs

Norman Briggs, age 90 of Presbyterian Home, Lexington, SC, formerly of Lexington, NC passed away Wednesday morning (11-26-2008).  Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday (11-29-2008) at Beck’s Reformed Church with Rev. Gerald M. Sanders officiating and burial will follow in Beck’s Reformed Cemetery.   Norman was born in Davidson County, July 19, 1918 to Frank William Briggs and Maggie Crook Briggs.  He was a member of Beck’s Reformed Church, a retired employee of Georgia Pacific Company as a Timber Cruiser and a Veteran of the US Navy having served his country in World War II.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Peggy Hayes Briggs February 8, 2003, a daughter Bonnie Briggs Thigpen, two brothers, Lester and Roy Briggs and five sisters, Nottie Owens, Myrtle Lewis, Colleen Parks, Ethel Moore and Jenny Grooms.   Surviving are: one daughter, Brenda Briggs Stevenson of Richburg, SC; three sons, Ronnie Briggs of Lancaster, SC, Patrick Briggs of LaGrange, GA and Kim Seals of Chapin, SC, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.   The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 pm Saturday at the Church prior to the service.   Arrangements by Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, NC   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
