Norman Everhart, age 92 of Midway, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on November 14, 2024.
Mr. Everhart was born on August 29, 1932, to Clandon and Edrena Marshall Everhart. He graduated from Midway High School in 1951 and then joined the United States Navy. Norman was assigned to the USS ESSEX (CVA-9) and was stationed in Miramar, California and the US Naval Air Station, San Diego, California. While in the Navy, Norman received two letters of commendation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He was also a founding member of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department, serving for many years.
After the Navy, Norman began working at Western Electric as a Tool and Die Maker and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. In 1956, he married Alta Hine Everhart, who preceded him in death last year. They were married 67 years. Both Norman and Alta were overjoyed the day that they brought their only child, Natalie, home. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren (when they were little) to the snack store and spoiling them on candy and drinks. Norman loved to fish, tended to his garden and especially loved riding his 4-wheeler.
Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Hine Everhart, parents, sisters Doris Everhart and Mildred Woodring.
Surviving is his daughter, Natalie Snincsak (Mike), grandchildren: Ashtyn Tran (Phu), Alayna Ricafrente (Josh Ruhala), Addisyn Ricafrente (David Gibson) and Ayden Ricafrente. Also, two very special great-grandchildren: Eli and Ariel Tran and many loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Midway Methodist Church with Pastor Ron Garner and Pastor Jeff Vogler officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff Hospice of Davidson County for their love and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27295.
