Norman “Buck” Grady Lanning
July 9, 1932 – October 26, 2025
Norman “Buck” Grady Lanning, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, due to complications from a stroke.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lanning; his son Allen (late Karen); his daughter-in-law, Dusty; grandchildren Ryan (Emily), Kyle (Kyleigh), Cody, Grayson, and Alayna; and his great-grandson, Carter. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren Peyton Ferguson and Nathanael Rouse as well as his step great-grandson Marshall Ferguson. Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Julie and Grady Lanning; his son Terry (Dusty); and his siblings Ralph (Loraine), Doris (Buddy), Gene (Betty), and Loretta Rainey (Bo).
A proud Korean War veteran, Buck served honorably in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he worked for Coble Diary, where he later retired. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church.
Buck enjoyed bowling, golf, and softball, and could be found watching sports, mowing the grass, or spending time with his family. His wit, love, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Buck will be honored at a graveside service at Forest Hill Memorial Park on Friday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m.
His family will be accepting donations in his honor for New Hope Presbyterian Church.
