Phillip Odell Byerly, 92, of Perryman Road, died Sunday, March 23,2 014, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Good Hope United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Chris Bennett and Ronnie Walser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home.
Mr. Byerly was born July 17, 1921, in Davidson County, to Keely Byerly and Mary Lou Walser. He was a farmer and self employed painter. He like to hunt and fish. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosa “Rose” Hanes; half-brothers, Floyd Younts and Glenn Younts; and half-sister, Dorothy Byerly.
Surviving are his loving wife of 73 years, Vaudy Curry Byerly of the home; daughter, Linda Hinkle and husband John of Lexington; three grandchildren, Diana Crotts and husband Greg, Phil Hanes and wife Pansy, and Kathy Rose Smith; four great-grandchildren, Tiffany Crotts, Timothy Crotts, Whitney Burris and Blake Corn; half-brother, Calvin Younts of Lexington; and half-sister, Treva Weaver of Lexington.
