Odell Gilbert Floyd, 74, of Lexington, passed away early Wednesday 12-24-2014 in Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, in the Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, conducted by Rev. Chris Bitterman, Rev. Frances Smith and family friend Pastor David Hedrick. Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum with full military graveside rites.
Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 2:45p.m., at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.
Odell was born January 10, 1940, in Davidson County to Sallie Floyd Putnam. He retired from Food Lion and was a member of Meadowview Presbyterian Church. He served in the US Navy was a member of American Legion Post 8. He was preceded in death by his mother, and his step-father Howard Putnam.
Odell is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Maxine Floyd of the home; daughter, Tabitha Floyd Garrison (Larry Wayne Jr.) of Lexington; son, Jeff Floyd of Lexington; 5 grandchildren, Joshua, Kaylee, and Tyler Floyd, Jacob and Morgan Garrison; brothers, Curtis Putnam (Linda) of Lexington and Eddie Putnam of Brown Summit; sisters, Ruth Ann Hill (Jack) of Thomasville, and Darlene Thompson (Clyde) of Lexington.
