Olin Julius Leonard 1/1/1938 - 7/29/2026
Peggy Elizabeth Neal Leonard 9/9/1940 - 8/14/2026
Together in Life, Together in Glory: Celebrating the Lives of the Leonards.
The Leonard family announces the home going of their beloved parents, grandparents, and faithful savants of God, who were reunited in glory after 67 beautiful years of marriage. Olin Leonard entered his heavenly rest on July 29, 2026, and Peggy Leonard peacefully followed him into the arms of Jesus on August 14, 2026.
Devout in their Pentecostal faith, the Leonards built their entire lives upon the foundation of the faith they found while devout members of the Church of God. They lived their testimony daily, sharing the gospel and serving their church family with unwavering devotion.
Peggy was a radiant soul who strived to bring joy and happiness to everyone she met. Blessed with a deeply loving heart, she expressed her spiritual gifts through her love of family, friends, and the beauty of creation. She possessed a remarkable talent for flowers and floral arranging, and she brought sweetness to life's milestones by baking beautiful cakes for many special occasions. Known for playing a mean game of gin rummy, her true hallmark was her boundless hospitality. She welcomed everyone to her table regardless of friend or stranger; to her, you were family. Better grandmothers didn't compare to Peggy because she was "The Best". Olin Leonard was a hardworking, devoted provider who spent many years as a skilled sheet metal fabricator. A man of many talents, he loved tinkering with small engines and could fix almost anything. His greatest joys were found in simple moments: fishing alongside his son, singing with his daughter, and sharing his profound faith with everyone he encountered. And being a grandfather was his greatest joy. Together, they shared a deep love for fishing and cheering on the Braves baseball team. Above all, they cherished their roles as grandparents, leaving behind a rich legacy of love.
They are survived by their devoted children: their two loving daughters, Malinda Leonard (Craig) and Wanda Rogers and son Neal Leonard and wife Cathy. They leave behind a legacy of 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as Peggy's surviving sister, Phyllis Scarboro (David), and a host of cherished church family members and friends.
They were preceded in death by their beloved great granddaughter, "Charlee girl" Lineberry; Olin's parents Julius Paul Leonard and Lula Mae Morrison Leonard and sisters Dorothy Everhart and Louise Odom and Peggy's parents Dewey Guy Neal and Rachel Chandler Neal and siblings, Archie Player, Jr. (Bo) Dianna Blanton, Mary Overby, and Levern Player. Their lives were a beautiful reflection of their favorite scripture,
I Corinthians 2:9: "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, August 29 at Church of God (Lexington) with Pastors Rodney Merrell and Alan Greene officiating. The family will greet guest one hour prior at 1:00 pm.
Resting together in eternity, their faith has now become sight.
