Olin Thales Davis III departed this world on January 1, 2024, to his eternal home at the age of 88. Born on March 23, 1935, in Davidson County. Thales served his country in the U.S. Army as a Third-Class Specialist Technician after the Korean War. After his return home, he settled in Churchland NC, and raised his family with love and faith. Thales was an active member of Churchland Baptist Church and remained dedicated to his walk with Jesus, studying the Bible every day and leading his family in prayer every evening at dinner. Thales was an outdoors person who loved to work outside. His passion was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandson. He is reunited with his parents, Olin Thales “O.T.” Jr. and Catherine Josephine Wilson Davis, as well as his son, Barry, daughter in law, Mary Ellen Davis, also preceding him are his sisters, Shelby Bauernfeind and husband Stan, Connie Davis in Heaven.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Churchland Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Robbie Stephens officiating the service and burial will follow with military graveside rites at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Susan Madeline Smith Davis of the home, son, Olin Thales Davis IV, daughter, Amy Davis Knox both of Lexington, grandchildren, Becky Davis Peele (Daniel), Chris, Davis, and Will Davis, one great grandson, Jonah Peele, daughter in law. Sandra Davis, brother, Willie Davis (Gayle) of Linwood, sisters, Bobbie Tetter (Sam) of Lexington, and Cathy Bailey (Tom) of Arizona.
