Olin Disher

November 2, 1931 — August 18, 2018

Olin Charles Disher (Bud, Red, OC), 86, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at his home in Lexington with loved ones by his side.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Becks Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.

Mr. Disher was born on November 2, 1931 to the late James E. Disher, Sr. and Jestina Charles Disher. He worked in the furniture business at Dixie Furniture, Philpot Furniture, and retired from TFI, plant D in Thomasville. He was a long time active member of Becks Lutheran Church and cherished his church family. Olin never met a stranger and found someone he knew or met someone new everywhere he went. He loved to read his bible daily and enjoyed walks with his friends at Grimes Park. He often walked 5-10 miles a day up into his 80’s. He celebrated his 60 th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Betty Briggs Disher, on May 10, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sibling, two sisters, Nancy Disher who died in childhood and Becky D. Craver; and two brothers, James E. Disher and Edwin (Ed)  Disher.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Betty Briggs Disher of the home; sisters, Helen D. Barnett (Garry) of Lexington, Wyona D. Gilbert (Bill) of Morrisville, and Maxine D. Floyd of Lexington; his daughter, B. Lynn Widenhouse (Steve) of Clemmons; son, Olin Martin Disher (Karol Lynn) of Georgia; and grandchildren, Emily Rogers (Jeff) of Georgia, Ryan Widenhouse (Elodie) of New York, and Kelsey Widenhouse of Clemmons. Olin was blessed to have many nieces and nephews that he loved with all of his heart.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Becks Lutheran Church Building Fund at 441 Becks Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292 or to Hospice of Davidson County at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
