Olin David Hedrick, 85, of Oakwood Circle, Danville, formerly of Lexington, NC, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Forest Hill Memorial Park, in Lexington, NC, with the Rev. Susan Hannah officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, NC.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Danville, Va.
Mr. Hedrick was born April 21, 1926, in Davidson County, NC, to David Ottis Hedrick and Esther Hedrick. He retired from Dan River Mills in Danville and also previously worked at Burlington Industries. Mr. Hedrick served in the U.S. Army and many years in the Army Reserve as a Command Sgt. Major. He was a member of American Legion Post 1097; attended Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Danville; and volunteered for many civic causes. He loved golfing, fishing and spending time with his family and many, many friends, young and old. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Long Hedrick on May 14, 1992.
Surviving are daughters, Vickie Pearce of Danville, Va., Jennifer Piekarz and husband, Howard, of Angier, NC, and Cyndy Hilton of Delta Junction, Ak; grandsons, Michael David Hilton and wife, Elizabeth, Andrew Scott Pearce, Philip Alan Pearce and wife, Rebecca, and James McDaniel Ealy; great-grandsons, Austen Hilton, Lukas Hilton, and Logan Pearce; brother, Leon B. Hedrick and wife, Ruth J., of Lexington; and sister, Evelyn Oates and husband, Robert, of Lexington.
