Ollie Viola Everhart Smith, 92, of E. Holly Grove Rd., Lexington, died Friday, July 25, 2014 in WFBH-Lexington Medical Center.
A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Mount Tabor United Church of Christ with the Rev. Darrell Sluder officiating.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
Mrs. Smith was born December 27, 1921 in Davidson County to Charles Franklin Everhart and Vallie Crotts Everhart. A former employee of Duracell, she was a member of Mount Tabor United Church of Christ. Preceding her in death was her husband, James Baxter Smith, four brothers, Clyde Everhart, James Everhart, Cletus Everhart, Ford Everhart, five sisters, Pauline Swing, Naomi Hartzog, Florence Layman, Della Wright and Rosa Everhart.
Surviving are two sons, James “Jimmy” Baxter Smith, Jr. (Carolyn) of Lexington, Barry Kent Smith (Barbara) of Wake Forest; a daughter, Rhonda Ann Peterson (David) of Manhattan Beach, CA; five grandchildren, Christine Hess (Nick), Brian Peterson, Cindi Houser (Steven), Brent Smith (Kelly), Megan Thorpe (Nicholas); and four great grandchildren, Kori Hess, Ella Hess, Austin Houser and Sara Ann Thorpe.
