Opal Albertson Dorsett, 88 of Carolina House of Lexington and formerly of Cunningham Brick Yard Road, received a special present when she went home to be with The Lord on Christmas Day.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm today at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church where she was a member. The service will be conducted by Dr. Keith Carroll, Rev. Leon Thompson, and Rev. Carroll Upton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Dorsett was born March 3, 1919 in Guilford County to Ernest Albertson and Loretta McCauley Albertson. She was very active in, and loved her church. At her church she worked with children all of her adult life; conducting children’s programs and working in the nursery. She was preceded in death by her husband Winfred Dorsett, a brother Kermit Albertson, and a sister LaRue Copple.
Surviving are five daughters; Diane Crouse and husband Wayne, Virginia Whittington, Gladys Houser and Evelyn Fritts, all of Lexington, and Peggy Hunt and husband Owen of Trinity; two brothers Rev. Ralph Thurman Albertson of Thomasville, and Darrell Albertson and wife Inez of Archdale; two sisters Viola Greene of Asheboro, and Loretta Hunt of Winterville; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 pm today at the church.
