Opal Owens Rowe, age 81 of West Old Highway 64, Lexington passed away Monday at Hinkle Hospice House following an extended illness.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bruce E. Morasco and Max Shoaf officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rowe was born February 5, 1931, in Davidson County, to Ivan G. Owens and Genorah Briggs Owens. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Brewer “Joker” Rowe who died April 11, 2010; five brothers, Olin, Kermit, Ralph, Horace and Hulin Owens; and two sisters, Occie Alley and Genevieve Craver.
Surviving are two daughters, Vanessa Sink and husband, Tommy, of Lexington and Lisa Edwards of Charlotte; sons, Jeff Rowe and wife, Joanne, of Charlotte, and Kent Rowe of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren, Scott Sink and wife, Julie, and Stephanie Rowe; two great-grandchildren, Trad and Hali Sink; sister, Letha Shoaf and husband, Rev. Max Shoaf, of Lexington; brother, Wilford Owens of Lexington.
