Ophelia Berrier McClung, 87 of Owens Rd., Lexington, died Sunday September 14, 2008 at Wake Medical Center in Cary after a critical illness of one week. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Linwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Cynthia Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. McClung was born in Davidson County on April 17, 1921 to Luther Harvey Berrier and Troy Sharpe Berrier. She was a graduate of Catawba College and retired from the Davidson County School System after 30 years of teaching. She was a member of Linwood United Methodist Church and was very active in the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Dempsey McClung on January 2, 1991 brother, Luther H. Berrier, Jr. and sister Ina Cutler.
Surviving are sons, Bill McClung and wife Elizabeth of Apex, NC and Tom McClung and wife Barbara of Morgan Hill, CA; grandchildren, John McClung, Sam McClung, Sarah McClung and Charlie McClung and brother John Berrier and wife Jenny of New Braunfels, TX
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington
