Ora Lee Mayes Taylor

Ora Lee Mayes Taylor, 78 of Taylor Rd., Lexington, NC, died Friday in Alston Brook Nursing Home after a 3 year illness. Mrs. Taylor was born July 24, 1928 in Edgecombe County to Jasper Eugene Mayes and Lessie Malpass Mayes. A member of New Life Baptist Church, she retired from PPG Industries and was a member of the PPG Retirees. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nelson Taylor, Sr., two bothers, Asom Mayes, Thomas Howard Mayes and one sister, Pat Smith. Surviving are her sons Tommy Taylor and wife Judy of Lexington and Bobby Taylor and wife Cathy of Welcome; grandchildren Amy Taylor Wiles and husband Matt, Robert Cole Taylor and wife Kelly, Brian Thomas Taylor, and Laura Taylor Spainhour and husband Chad; great-grandchildren Carly Elizabeth Taylor and Ethan Blake Wiles; brother William Robert Mayes of Pennsylvania; sister Mary Robertson, Katie Gibson, and Linda Grissom all of Henderson, NC; sister-in-law Evelyn Mayes of Lexington and Patricia Starling of Fayetteville. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Kenneth Deal and Rev. Michael Greer. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Tommy and Judy Taylor, 160 Taylor Drive.
