Oscar Mack Hanes, Jr. age 82 passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. A funeral service will be held 2 P M. on Saturday, February 25 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel conducted by Dr. Harold Fletcher. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Oscar was born in Davidson County on December 1, 1929 to Oscar Mack and Lula Mae Leslie Walser Hanes. He was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Washington, D.C., a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and was a member of American Legion Post 55, in Winston Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Garland, Lacy, Stacie, James and Paul Hanes; three sisters, Grace Kiger, Sadie Starr Floyd and Millie Ree Hanes Myers.
Surviving is a sister, Mary Magdalene Hanes of Lexington; Five nieces and five nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
