Pansy Shoaf Sink

October 24, 1931 — February 7, 2016

Pansy Shoaf Sink passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home with her children by her side. Pansy was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, and in return was deeply loved by all. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Midway United Methodist Church, 9795 Old US Highway 52. The service will be conducted by Pastor Barry Lemons and Pastor John Woods. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and at the family home at other times. Pansy was born in Davidson County on October 24, 1931 to John Henry Shoaf and Myrtle Josephine Craver Shoaf. A lifetime member of Midway United Methodist Church, Pansy belonged to the Fidelis Sunday School Class, the Lelia Nifong Circle, the Sunshine Club, and the “Famous Chicken Pie Makers”. Pansy and her husband were custodians of the church for 35 years. She retired in June 1994 from the Midway Elementary School cafeteria. For many years, Pansy was a member of the Midway Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary and was the first woman elected to Midway Fire Department’s Board of Directors. She was also active with the Davidson County Republican Women and served as their president and treasurer for several years. Pansy was preceded in death by her devoted husband, David Reid Sink, Jr. Reid was a farmer and served as a Davidson County Commissioner for 16 years. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Stephanie Sink Barber; sisters, Addie Shoaf, Evelyn Sink, and Mildred Hege; brothers, Fred Shoaf, Clyde Shoaf, and Wayne Shoaf; brothers-in-law Vann Sink, Foy Hege, Norwood Crumpler, and Hall Sink; and, sisters-in-law, Carol Shoaf, Helen Shoaf, Vivian Sink, Mary Lois Nifong, Dorothy Crumpler, and Francis Reich. Surviving are her children, Martin (Marty) Sink and wife Eve, Teresa Sink Robertson and husband David, Dennis Sink and wife Maria, Donna Sink Phelps, and Johnny Sink; grandchildren, Hannah Sink, Drew Sink and wife Kelty, Michael Robertson, Josh Robertson and wife April, Jody Roten and husband Charles, Kyle Phelps and wife Amanda, Amanda Covington and husband Jeff, April Wilkes and husband Kyle, Jeremy Sink and wife Brenda, and Shannon Sink; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Robertson, Garrett Roberts, Reid Phelps, Logan Koonts, Sarah Covington, Dylan Wilkes, Brianna and Zach Sink; sister-in-law Reba Shoaf; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and a host of friends. The family would like for memorials to be made to Midway United Methodist Church or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is serving the family.
