Patricia "Patty" Dora Blake

Patricia “Patty” Dora Blake of Midway passed away in the comfort of her home with her family at her side on August 21, 2026, following a long battle with kidney and bladder cancer and only one day after her 93rd birthday. She was born in Wilmington, North Carolina to James Henry and Grace Marine Burriss and shared a lifelong partnership with her husband, Ted; supporting his 20 plus year U.S. Air Force career while raising their family across several states in the US, including a two (2) year tour of Taiwan where Patty’s 3rd child was born.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, brother James, sisters Barbara and Virginia, her husband Ted Blake, her son Eddie Blake, her grandson Jonathan Patten, and her great-granddaughter, Ariel Patten.

Patty is survived by her children Caroline Patten (husband Walt) of Colorado, their son, Blake Patten (Orit) also of Colorado and grandson, Jonathan; Eddie Blake, deceased, (his widow Rebecca) and 3 children, Teddy, Robert and Mary Grace all residing in NC; L.D. Blake (wife Lynne) of Arkansas and their daughters, Brittany Blake of California and Lauren Rogers (Matt) of Arkansas and their 3 children William, Graham and Eleanor; and also survived by her younger brothers, Tommy and Phillip residing in Wilmington, NC with their families.

Patty retired from KMART in Winston Salem as it’s office manager and was an avid golfer for many years, an Oak Forest United Methodist Church member, and a Meals on Wheels volunteer with her husband. Even after Ted’s death, Patty continued to deliver Meals on Wheels.

She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors.

Celebration of Life will be held for Patty on August 26, 2026 at 3 pm in the Sanctuary of the Oak Forest United Methodist Church, 11461 Old US Highway 52, Winston Salem, NC and will be laid to rest beside her husband at Parklawn Cemetery in Winston Salem
