SALISBURY, NC - Patricia L. Skinner, 88, died at her home in Salisbury, NC on Sunday, August 3, 2025 following a months-long struggle with lung cancer. Pat was born in Bath, Maine on June 18, 1937 to Edmund J. and L. Gwendolyn (Burnham) Gaudet. She graduated from Morse High School in 1955 and started a career in banking at Bath National Bank. On August 22, 1959 she married Richard W. Skinner, and together they made their home in Bath and raised their daughter, Cheryl. Pat’s working career also included seven years as the Administrative Assistant at Dike Elementary School and numerous years as a Loan Officer at First Federal Savings and Loan.
If you knew Pat, you knew how much she loved her home state of Maine. She especially enjoyed walking on the beach, working in her flower garden, researching genealogy, traveling the state with Richard, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved her home town on the banks of the Kennebec River, and was proud of her family’s long history in the Bath area. Pat was also an active, life-long member of Bath United Methodist Church, where she served as Membership Secretary for many years, was active in missions and outreach, and was a member of the Beacon Lights. She loved organizing events, and fondly remembered facilitating the States Organization of Boating Access Conference in Maine and planning the transitional worship service for the new Bath UMC church building.
Pat was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 61 years, Richard W. Skinner. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Skinner and son-in-law Kirk Tutterow of Lexington, NC; and by her step-granddaughter Ellen Tutterow (Kyle Turner) of Calgary, Alberta in Canada.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22 at Trinity Oaks Retirement Community, 728 Klumac Rd., Salisbury, NC. A time of visitation will precede the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. A separate Service of Committal will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath, Maine at a later date.
