Patty Shoaf Swicegood, age 89, of Helmstetler Road, Lexington passed away Saturday night at Alston Brook Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Bruce Morasco officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Sanctuary.
Patty was born in Davidson County April 1, 1925, to Druid Wheeler and Beatrice Myers Shoaf. She had worked for Manhattan Shirt and retired as Dietician Supervisor with Lexington Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin Swicegood in 2001; son, Bobby Ted Swicegood; a sister, Elizabeth Kiger and a brother, Gerald Shoaf.
Surviving are her sons, Larry Swicegood (Anne) of Lexington, Tim Swicegood (Karen) of Pineville; four grandchildren, Andrea Allmer, Dana Thomson (Heath), Shanna Leonard (Bart) and Julia Harris (Chris); three great-grandchildren, Zackery Steadman, Nelson Leonard and Benson Harris; sisters, Jean Leonard, June Booze, and Judy Loveday; brothers, John Shoaf (Jean) and Bobby Shoaf (Geraldine); sister-in-law, Flo Rea Shoaf; brother-in-law, Leslie Kiger.
