Paul Davis, Sr.

John Paul Davis Sr, 101, of Oakdale Street Lexington, passed away Saturday July 21, 2018 at Hinkle Hospice of Davidson County.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church where he was a member, by the Rev. Paul Smeltzer. Burial will follow at  Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home.

Paul was born May 31, 1917 in Davidson County to Daniel Harris Davis and Effie Caroline Rickard Davis. He was a retired truck driver for over 60 years and was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Army. Mr. Davis was preceded in by his wife, Lucy Marie Kinney Davis, who died in 1998 and a son, John Paul Davis Jr., who died in 1971.

Surviving are his daughters, Judi Hamilton (John) of Woodstock, GA and Mildred Byrd of Mechanicsville, VA; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
