Paul Howard Epley

Paul Howard Epley, 87 of Lexington, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, February 8th in the chapel of Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington by the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell, III, and will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome. Burial with military rites will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Covid restrictions of social distancing and a face covering will be followed.

Paul was born May 8, 1933 to Carl and Nettie Crawford Epley. He was a salesman beginning with Mid-State Tile spending 13 years there. Later, he worked 18 years for Peerless, Inc., selling carpet, floor covering and tile to wholesale distributors. After Peerless Inc. sold out, he went to work for Dealers Supply in Durham for another 10 years retiring in 1993, a total of 43 years. Wanting to stay active and being a people person, he began working at J&J Carpet two days a week and about 6 to 7 years ago he started part time with Davidson Funeral Home helping with visitations.

At his church he was a deacon, spent 30 years as Secretary of the Sunday School, and was an active member of the Crusaders class. For two years he and Barbara led the Young People studying the Bible, having sleep-overs at the church and enjoying lots of recreation. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Fred, Charles, Carl Jr. and Glenn.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara of 63 years, of the home; two sons, Alan of Trinity, NC and Greg (Lisa) of Lexington; one granddaughter, Adrianne (Travis) Pool of Marion, NC and three great-granddaughters, Deanndra Cheeks, Brianna Cheeks and Rylin Cheeks, all of Marion, NC. Also surviving is one sister, Doris Pickett, of Clemmons, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
