Paul Wayne Hinkle

Paul Wayne Hinkle, 83, of Welcome, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Center Church of Welcome, 186 Center Church Rd. Lexington, NC 27295, with Pastor Mitch Wilson officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

Paul was born on April 18, 1941, in Davidson County, to the late Arnold Hinkle and Gladys Hinkle. He worked for many years at RJR from which he retired. Paul was responsible for several patent designs that were used for the company, along with some that were utilized elsewhere. His engineering mindset was beneficial in all areas of his life.

Computers were an integral part of his life, and he loved being able to use his skills for technology in many aspects throughout his career and personal hobbies, including solar which he used in building many of his projects.

Paul was also known to be a wonderful singer and musician, playing guitar and singing in gospel groups. He loved being able to share music with those around him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 40 years, Paulette Aldridge Hinkle, of the home; son Michael Hinkle, of Tyro; step son, Jeff Hutchens (Idania), of Mint Hill; step daughter, Lisa Curry (Roy), of Lexington; brothers, Ray Hinkle (Chandra), of Welcome, and Gene Hinkle, of Welcome; two sisters, Mary Ruth Doby, of Welcome, and Shirley Younts, of Welcome; grandchildren, Will Hinkle, of Asheville, and Lindsay Hinkle, of Carrboro; step grandchildren, Tyson Curry (Mary Joy), of Clover SC, Nolan Hutchins, of Mint Hill, Lucas Hutchins, of Mint Hill, Dylan Thompson, of Mint Hill, and Logan Thompson, of Mint Hill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Center Church of Welcome.
