Paul Clayton Leonard, age 98 of Ruff Leonard Road, Lexington passed away Thursday (9-10-2009) at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral service will be held at
2:00 pm Sunday (9-13-2009) at Church of Christ at Arcadia with Brother Bobby Leonard, Brother Scott Leonard and Brother Craig Rapp all pastors of the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Paul was born in Davidson county, January 10, 1911 to Rufus Clayton Leonard and Bertha Craver Leonard. He was a devoted member of Church of Christ at Arcadia, a retired employee of Burlington Furniture, a avid gardener and Farmer. His greatest hobby beside loving his family and enjoying their visits was feeding and watching his birds. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Stella Lanning Leonard, a grandson Ben Perrell, five brothers, Harvey, Orville, Clarence, Allen and Ellard Leonard.
Surviving are: his three children, Patty Leonard Swing and husband Rodger, Bobby Leonard and wife Shirley and Nancy Leonard Perrell and husband James all of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Tim and Todd Swing, Kelli Rapp, Lori Hanes, Randy and Scott Leonard, all of Reedy Creek, and Barry Perrell of Anchorage, Alaska; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Mae Weaver, Blanch Younts and husband Worth and Mildred Barbry all of Lexington; a beloved sister-in-law, Gladys Reavis and a dear friend Reba Perrell.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel.
