Mr. Sidney Paul Pierce, 78, of Pine Ridge Road, died Tuesday, March 5 at Forsyth Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 8 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Michael Kearns. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the home from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday.
Mr. Pierce was born July 24, 1934 in Davidson County to Sidney Lee Pierce and Sadie Tedder Pierce. He was retired from C. W. Transport, where he was a truck driver, and a member of Welcome Church of God. He entered in the US Army when he was 15 years old and was injured at age 16, for which he received the Purple Heart. He later enlisted in US Navy, and later served in the National Guard. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3074. His sisters, Ruth Coppley, Betty Coppley, and Seba Norman, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rhonda Maners Pierce of the home; his sons, Rickey Pierce and wife, Cynthia, Sidney Pierce and wife, Candy, and Michael Pierce, all of Lexington; his brother, Gilbert L. Pierce of Thomasville; his sister, Teenie Foster of Lexington; his grandchildren, Mildred Proctor, Jacinda Pierce, Miranda Groves, Joseph Pierce, Nicholas Lambros, Timothy Lambros, and Nathan Ball; his great grandchildren, Ayla Kiser, Caitlin Kiser, Jimmy Fulcher, Keeley Vaughn, Brody Groves, Patrick Groves, Conner Ball, Parker Ball, and Tyler Ball; and his great great granddaughter, Chloe Logan.
