Paul Rogers Smith

Paul Rogers Smith of Clemmons passed away Tuesday morning at his home after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held June 16 at 11:00 am at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Lexington.  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A celebration of his life will be held at the Smith Family Reunion in Franklin, NC on October 13, 2018. Paul was born in Macon County, NC September 8, 1935 to James Ervin Smith and Lillie Dehart Smith. He was a graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1955 and attended Wake Forest University. He served in the US Army and Air force obtaining the rank of Captain, also serving as a reservist in the National Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, The Optimist Club of Winston Salem and retired after working with Security Life and Trust, Integon and GMAC with 39 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ray and Frank Smith. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Waldroop Smith of the home; daughters, Dianne Ball (Billy) of Trinity and Lynn Fritts (Allen) of Lexington; granddaughters, Maggie and Emma Fritts; brother, Carroll Smith (June) of Sylva, NC and his caregiver, Tammy Gonzalez. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Davidson High School, memo the Ladies Lacrosse Team, 7227 Old US Highway 52, Lexington, NC  27295.
