Paul Kenneth Shillinglaw of Lexington passed away Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston‑Salem, NC.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 620 Hill Everhart Road, Lexington, NC 27295, with Pastor Keith Perkins officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church, 10 to 11 a.m.

Born July 2, 1946, in Lexington, NC, Kenneth lived a life marked by devotion to family, service, and a love for the outdoors. After graduating high school, he married the love of his life, Jimmie Carol Yarbrough, and soon after joined the United States Air Force, serving proudly from 1966–1970. Following his military service, Kenneth and Jimmie returned to Lexington with their three boys, where he began his career with Lexington Telephone Company and later retired in 2001.

Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising exotic birds, traveling, and making pottery alongside his wife. His hands were always busy, his heart always full, and his presence always steady.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jimmie Carol Yarbrough; his parents, Paul and Ava Shillinglaw; and his sister, Myra Shillinglaw.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Thomas Cheffie Shillinglaw (Pam), Christopher Shillinglaw (James), and Craig Shillinglaw (Elizabeth); six grandchildren, Jessea Snider (Chris), Jedadiah Shillinglaw, Ashley Shillinglaw (Douglas), Jonathan Shillinglaw, Brianna Nifong (Nathan), and Danielle Shillinglaw; and five great‑grandchildren, Kellan, Charlotte, Alayna, Declan, and Boone. He is also survived by his brother and sisters, Rex Shillinglaw (Donna), Jennifer L. Cross (Steve), and Debbie J. Stapleton (Greg); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his beloved fur baby, Katie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gethsemane Baptist Church, PO Box 1386, Lexington, NC 27293, in honor of Kenneth.

Condolences may be sent to 1425 Lamb Rd., Lexington, NC 27295.
