Paula Wilkerson Trivett age 71, of Thomasville, NC, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026,
surrounded by her loving family.
Paula was born in Germany on January 17, 1955. She graduated from Walter M. Williams High
School before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Appalachian State
University. Paula later advanced her credentials by obtaining a Master of Education in Special
Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
The majority of her career was spent with Thomasville City Schools as a Special Education
Teacher and Exceptional Children’s Program Facilitator. She went on to retire from the Randolph
County School System as an Exceptional Children’s Program Coordinator.
Paula enjoyed sewing, including making her own wedding dress. She also enjoyed cross-stitch,
the beach, decorating her house for every holiday; her favorite was Christmas, a cold Diet Pepsi,
and chocolate. Her most treasured hobby was making memories with her children and
grandchildren.
Paula is survived by her husband of 48 years, Tony.
Also surviving are Paula’s children: Lauren Hicks (Kurt), Lindsay Sifford (Timothy), and
Clayton Trivett (Lauren). Paula’s grandchildren include: Jordan, Jake, & Joseph Hicks, Emma &
Anthony Sifford, and Beau & Zoey Trivett. Also surviving are Paula’s sisters: Karen Wilson
(Larry) and Jodi Cates (Brad). In addition, Paula is survived by nieces, Taylor Benson (Nolan),
Sarah Cates, nephew Jack Wilson, and Great-Niece Lenore Benson.
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jean Wilkerson, and a grandson, James
Eugene (Jet) Trivett.
Paula was truly a remarkable woman; she was loving, kind, and always genuine. Her love was
the foundation of our family, and her kindness left a mark on everyone she met. While her
absence leaves a hole in our hearts, her legacy of love, strength, and generosity will continue to
inspire us every day.
A celebration in memory of Paula will be held at a later date.
