Pauletta Nicholson Hutchens

Pauletta Nicholson Hutchens, 83, of Eden, NC, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at her home.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Home.

A funeral will be held the following day, at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 20, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Fred Daniel officiating and burial concluding services at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Pauletta was born on October 26, 1942, to the late Hobart Nicholson and Mae Middleton Nicholson, in Jackson County, NC.

She found great joy in working in her yard and tending to her flowers, nurturing each bloom with patience and care. She embraced life with laughter and appreciated simple pleasures, especially a good cup of coffee shared in quiet reflection or warm conversation. Above all, she loved and adored her family. They were her greatest blessing, and the love she gave so freely will continue to bloom in their hearts for years to come.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Edward Lee Smith and Stevon Sanders Smith, eight brothers and sisters, and her close friend, Johhny Freeman.

Left to carry on her legacy are her children, Tony Smith, of Lexington, Lisa Holcomb (Jeff), of Eden, and Sherry Fannin (Jimmy), of Lexington; sister, Hobanette Maynor, of Cullowhee; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
