Pauline Elizabeth Leonard York, age 101, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, peacefully and surrounded by family, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 30, 2024, at 2:30 PM, at the Forest Hill Memorial Park mausoleum chapel.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Sunday evening, September 29, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

Pauline was born on July 29, 1923, in Davidson County, to the late Luther Cleveland Leonard and Martha Yarborough Leonard.She once owned a successful sewing business, showcasing her talent and passion for the craft. A standout basketball player in high school, she remained a devoted fan of the sport throughout her life. Pauline also found joy spending time outside and in her yard, particularly in her colorful flower beds and vegetable garden. Cooking was another joy, especially when preparing meals for her beloved family, encompassing children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who filled her heart with love and purpose. For her, family was truly the ultimate treasure.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by the love of her life, Frank York to whom she was married for 59 years; five brothers, Odell, Marvin, Sam, Johnny, and Roy; and three sisters, Ruth, Annie Mae, and Gertrude.

Left to carry on her legacy is her son, Chuck York (Cheryl) of Welcome; daughter, Pat Townsend of Welcome; grandchildren, Tiffany Furches (Jeff), Josh York, and Shannon Philips (Craig): great grandchildren, Sabrina Uphoff (Kale), Marrisa Furches, and Peyton Davis (Lance); and great great grandchild, Wesson, and Sage and Abel Uphoff.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Davidson County, who went above and beyond taking care of Pauline and caring for the family.
