Mrs. Maude Pauline Fortner McCullough, 88, of Carolina House of Lexington, died Saturday, June 19 at Forsyth Medical Center after an extended illness.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 21 at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Frankie Matthews will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Carol Gobble, on Waitman Road, Lexington.
Mrs. McCullough was born December 4, 1921 in Rowan County to Franklin Fortner and Loni Wike Fortner. She was a former employee of Link Taylor Furniture, and a homemaker. Her husband, Ernest Eugene McCullough, preceded her in death; as well as four brothers, four sisters, one grandchild, and six great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry McCullough and wife Patricia, of Mocksville; Larry McCullough and wife Peggy; Ronnie McCullough and wife Sandy, and her daughter Carol Gobble and husband Jim, all of Lexington; her brothers, Frank Fortner of New Bern, Luther Fortner of Memphis, TN, and Dewey Fornter of Key West, FL; her sisters, Colleen Fortner Stafford, Margaret Fortner Ward, and Kathryn Fortner Johnson, all of Lexington, Carolyn Fortner Koonts of Linwood, and Rebecca Fortner Snider, of Southmont; nine grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
