Peggy Sink Black

Peggy Ann Sink Black, age 85, of Lexington passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Grayson Creek Assisted Living.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Pilgrim Reformed Church with the Rev. Richard Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 pm until 4:00 pm in the Church Fellowship Hall.

Mrs. Black was born in Davidson County on June 22, 1934 to Edgar Lee Sink and Myrtle Gray Sink. She was an active member of Pilgrim Reformed Church and until Alzheimer’s disease took her memory her lifelong mission was taking care of the elderly. Mrs. Black graduated from Pilot High School in 1952 as the class valedictorian. In 1951 she was the first Davidson County female to make All-State in basketball, and was inducted to the Davidson County Sports Hall of Fame. She was a homemaker, known for her cooking, baking and quilting skills and was a loving mother and grandmother, whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William Reid Black; two sons-in-law, Brad Leonard and Steve Lewis; two brothers, Austin Sink and Wayne “Buck” Sink; and four sisters, Evelyn Deaton, Margaret Lineback, Jewell Smith and Helen Black.

Surviving are her loving children, Randall Reid Black (Lucinda), Kathy Lewis, Teresa Sink (Keith) and Linda Leonard; a sister, Nancy Sink; a brother-in-law, Gene Black; a sister-in-law, Rachel Sink; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Reid Ray (Beth), Stephanie Mabe, Jordan Leonard (Whitney), Ashley Keyser (David), Cameron Black (Tori), Lauren Black (fiancé’ Joseph Burke) and Brandon Leonard; ten great-grandchildren, Avery & Hailey Ray, Layla & Lake Mabe, Ollie Kate, Sula & Magnolia Leonard and Audrey, Shelby & Levi Keyser; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
