Peggy Briggs

March 31, 1931 — July 25, 2013

Mrs. Peggy Rhodes Briggs, age 82, of Lohr Street, Lexington, NC died Thursday, July 25, 2013. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 28 at Bethany United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. David Talbert and Rev. Ashley Pickerel-Thomas. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home. Mrs. Briggs was born March 31, 1931 in Davidson County to William Edward Rhodes, Sr. and Ella Tysinger Rhodes. She had worked as bookkeeper with Southern Auto Parts. She had also been employed with Parkdale Mills in Thomasville and last worked at Belk Department Store in High Point. She was a faithful member of Bethany United Methodist Church and had served as a volunteer with the Davidson County Public Library. She was an excellent seamstress. She was married to William Smith (Bill) Briggs who died December 20, 2003. She was also preceded in death by brothers, W. E. Rhodes, Jr., Homer Rhodes and Dermont Rhodes; and by sisters Lena Smith, Ethel Weaver, Mabel Mickey and Maggie Wilson. Mrs. Briggs is survived by her daughters, Alice Bruff and husband, Jerry; Barbara Everhardt and husband Jimmy all of Lexington and Carol Warfford and husband Jeff of Simpsonville, SC; brother Herbert Rhodes of Burlington; sisters Ruby Chappell of Lexington and Carolyn Hunt of Charlotte; grandchildren Bennett Bruff and wife Milenda, Nathan Bruff, Alan Bruff and wife Jessica, Donna Logan and husband Matt, Sarah Blankenship, Noelle Warfford and Andy Warfford and 7 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank family, neighbors and friends with a special acknowledgement to Theresa and Barry Reep and Doris Fowler for the love and care given Mrs. Briggs. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or to Bethany United Methodist Church, 193 Bethany Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
