Peggy Jean Crotts Garner, 87, a resident of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Hospice of Davidson County. Peggy was born on May 1, 1934 in Davidson County to the late James Olin and Lillian Logans Crotts. She retired from Davis-Townsend Elementary School after many years as a Teacher’s Assistant. Peggy was a generous and selfless lady. She cared more for the needs of others, than her own. She loved music, crafting, and collecting dolls. She was a member of Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ where she played the piano for church services and the men’s chorus. Peggy will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Leon Garner.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ with Rev Darryl Sluder officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Due to Covid, there will not be a formal visitation. Mrs. Garner will be taken to the church at 10:00 AM. She will lie in state until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 and/or Mt Tabor United Church of Christ, 1002 E. Holly Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
Peggy is survived by her sons, Mike Garner (Cathie) of Mocksville, Eddie Garner (Jackie) of Lexington, and Steven Garner (Ebony) of Lexington; a brother, Dennis Crotts (Jane) of Lexington; a sister, Norma Peeler of Salisbury; seven grandchildren, Pilar Garner, Mitchell Garner (Regina), Micah Garner (Erin), Morgan Fullen (Josh), Chad Garner (Becky), Heather Hall (Jason), Valerie Leonard (Matt); eight great-grandchildren, Pria Hall, Miller Hall, Lyric Garner, Elin Leonard, Ava Garner, Cole Garner, Isla Garner, and Emmett Leonard; and numerous friends.
