Peggy Briggs Hinkle

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”   Peggy Jean Briggs Hinkle, 64, of Country Club Drive, died Monday, April 7, 2014 at Hinkle Hospice House.   A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at First United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Kelley Groce and the Rev. Doug Rowe, followed by burial in the Lexington City Cemetery.   The family will receive friends at the home and then before the service, beginning at 12:30 in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church.   Mrs. Hinkle was born August 16, 1949, in Lexington, to the late Raymond Briggs and Pauline Parker Briggs. She attended Davidson County Community College and Wake Forest University, was a member of the Lexington Garden Club and the Charity League of Lexington, and served on the board of Crisis Ministry, Lexington Hospital Foundation, and Family Services of Davidson County.  In the past, she served on the board of Lexington Youth Theatre, Child Guidance Center, and Edward C. Smith Civic Center.  She loved bridge and had been in a bridge club for 39 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.   Surviving are her son Gar Hinkle of the home; daughter Rae Hinkle Pickler and her husband Casey Pickler of Winston-Salem, NC; granddaughter Maggie Grace Pickler of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Gary Briggs and his wife Beth of Graham, NC and Ronnie Briggs and his wife Bebe of Lexington, NC; her nephews Mark Briggs and his wife Robin of Indian Trail, NC and Christian Fisher and his wife Lorrie of Pittsboro, NC; her nieces Sherry Briggs and her husband Ken Arthur of Wake Forest, NC and Mary Fisher Davila and her husband Chris of Raleigh, NC; and her husband Ed Hinkle of Lexington, NC.   Flowers can be sent to the First United Methodist Church for the service or memorials can be made to Crisis Ministry of Davidson County, 12 East First Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292.
