Peggy Jewel Roberson Snider

November 4, 1926 — October 28, 2023

Peggy Jewel Roberson Snider, 96, passed away peacefully and was birthed into heaven where she embraced her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Paul’s Chapel Reformed Church where she was a charter member and a member of the Chancel Choir for more than 60 years.  She also served in the Children’s Department, taught the Ladies’ Bible Class for 26 years, and played the piano for the Junior Choir.  She was a member of the Women’s Guild and served as an Elder on the Consistory.  She was a Charter Member of the WWII Memorial.  Her grandson, Rev. Aaron Long will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family willl receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Peggy, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on November 4, 1926 in Lexington, NC to Roy Elmer Roberson and Edna Ila Koontz Roberson.

Peggy graduated from Welcome High School and Ashmore Business College.  She worked as a secretary at Coble Dairy and Wennonah Cotton Mill.  She ended her business career as the Executive Assistant to the president of Sealy Mattress Company.  She was known for her warm smile and friendly greeting to all she met and knew.  As an avid cook, she loved to share her cakes and cookies with everyone.  Every week she made sour dough bread from a yeast starter she had grown for over 50 years.  Many cooks are making bread for their families from her yeast starter.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Paul; her parents, Roy and Edna; her daughter, Paula Snider Long; her brother, Rex Roberson and his wife Betty Roberson; and a niece, Vickie Jean Roberson Moody.

She is survived by her son, Rick Snider (Linda) of Lexington and her son-in-law, David Long of Midway; grandsons, Garth Snider (Donna) of Atlanta, Ga; Julian Jensen (Megan) of Hilton Head, SC; The Rev. Aaron Long (Joanna) of Lexington; Christian Long (Pam) of Midway; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Snider; Landon Snider; Sara Long Parnell (Jacob); Christopher Long; and Eva Dunn; a niece, Patricia Roberson Wilson; and a special friend for 90 years, Jeanne Beck.

Family requests that memorials be made to Paul’s Chapel Reformed Church 2791 West Center Street Extension, Lexington, NC  27295.
