Annie "Peggy" Porter Scott, 72, of Mendota Avenue, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem after an extended illness. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel by the Rev. John Mocko. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Scott was born Feb. 3, 1935, in Wilkes County to Alonzo Porter and Linda Perry Porter. A retired employee of Edgewood Apparel and Lucia Co., she was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Teressa Ann Moose; seven brothers, Jim Porter, Bill Porter, Fred Porter, Sherrill Porter, Bufort Porter, Hubert Porter and Ray Porter; and four sisters, Alvina Williams, Alta "Doll" Morris, Mary Brooks and Alice Spicer. Surviving are her husband, Cletus Dewey Scott of the home; a son, Wayne Moose and his wife, Hilda, of Lexington; daughters Kathy Owens and her husband, Charlie, Sharon Everhart and her husband, Tim, and Rita Beamon, all of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Brandon Everhart, Stephen Everhart, Stefanie Poore, Renee Rummage, Shanon Thompson, Travis Moose, Tyler Moose, Tabitha Moose and Dolly Bullens; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica Thompson and Kayla Rummage. The family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and other times at the home of the daughter, Sharon Everhart, 432 Bobcat Cove, Lexington.
